‘Daily Show’ takes on Glenn Beck’s Nazi comparisons
Posted by admin on May 13th, 2010When President Obama took office, many thought the liberal-leaning “Daily Show” would be straining for punch lines without the Bush administration. But Comedy Central’s “fake news” juggernaut has trained much of its satirical fire at a rival cable operation, Fox News.
While Stewart and his staff have had all kinds of fun parsing video from the cable news giant, they turn the real rhetorical firepower on Fox’s breakout celebrity host, Glenn Beck. In March, Stewart devoted most of a show to an extended parody of the controversial talker. Wednesday night, Lewis Black — resident shouty curmudgeon of “The Daily Show” — also turned his sights on Beck. Black poked some fun at Beck’s frequent comparisons of President Obama and the left to the Nazis, saying, “This is a guy who uses more swastika props and videos of the Nuremberg rallies than the History Channel.”

Wonder if Beck enjoyed Mel Brook’s play and film, “The Producers?” One of the musical numbers was “Springtime for Hitler.” Beck clearly has a thing for the Nazis. Need warp technology to get to Planet Beck, which is clearly in another galaxy from the one we live in.
